Several months ago I injured myself and was unable to walk my two dogs, Carmen and Diva. Prior to my accident, I always saw a gentleman out walking several dogs on leash and was impressed because they were so well behaved. I stopped him one day and asked if he walked dogs for a living. To my relief, he did, and that is when I enlisted Courtney to include my two dogs on his daily walks. It didn’t take long for him to get my two “girls” under control and in his favor. He was meticulous about what dogs my girls would walk with to ensure the proper personalities of  dogs walked together. To my amazement, my girls behavior has improved and I have learned so much from Courtney.

Even though I have since recovered from my injury and now walk my girls each evening, I am continuing with his service, because of all the positive benefits. In my opinion, Courtney is very trustworthy, reliable, and cares deeply for my dogs. His experience and knowledge of dog behavior make you feel assured he’s got your dog’s best interest in mind. I would recommend his services to anyone. – Michael R.

For the last two years Courtney Hansen has been caring for Sassy, my Rhodesian/Great Pyrenees rescue dog . Sassy has developed behaviors that are a testimony to Courtney’s patience and kindness. I hadn’t noticed that Sassy, a timid dog with a fear of men, wasn’t a tail-wager – that is, until she bonded with Courtney. Now she wags it profusely for him. Because of her time with Courtney she is more responsive. Best of all – Courtney absolutely wears Sassy out. All my “doggie neglect” guilt is gone and I have more time for other activities. –Mary Jane S.

Pete first started regular visits/walks with Courtney in 2009. Pete is a Pit/Lab/Aussie mix and is a super high energy dog. I knew that leaving him at home while I was at work was not an option. Courtney’s method and attitude transcends above common-and unfortunate-breed misconceptions, and gave my dog above and beyond care that I’m certain he wouldn’t have received elsewhere. Watching Courtney and Pete interact is so great, because it feels like I have someone else on my team who cares as much about Pete’s health and well being as I do.

Even though we’ve recently moved to Seattle, I know Pete misses Courtney; his ears always perk up whenever Courtney’s name is mentioned and I like to think he remembers all the hikes, walks and love that Courtney gave him. I know that I’ll never be able to find another dog walker as great as Courtney! –Colleen W.

Courtney was a life saver for my two young dogs this summer.  I was in a graduate program and away from home for long hours during the day.  I was looking for someone to let my dogs outside during the day for a stretch and break; however, Courtney provided so much more than I expected.  Both of my dogs are rescue dogs.  I have had Kalie for five months.  She is a two year old border collie/lab mix with the energy and curiosity of a purebred border collie.  Tova is a very sweet 9 month old husky/yellow lab mix that I have had for three months.  Between the two of them the energy level can skyrocket extremely fast!  The daily walks, patience and calm manner that Courtney used with them crossed over into their morning walks with me.  After the first week with Courtney neither of them were interested in pulling on their leashes as much and they were much calmer.

Near the end of my summer graduate program I realized that I needed help with passing dogs on the trails, especially dogs off leash that did not listen to their owners.  Tova was starting to show some signs of frustration with these dogs and Kalie was just really hard to keep under control.  With one session and several phone sessions, Courtney helped me realize that Tova just needed more socialization and Kalie needed some additional training to increase her listening skills.    Tova is currently socializing every day with dogs at the dog park and is back to her “happy puppy play” with all dogs.  Kalie is starting to listen more and yesterday I walked both of them briefly together, on leash, at an off leash dog park with no signs of frustration from either of them.   This is a work in progress, but Courtney’s willingness to provide me strategies/tools have increased my confidence in working with both of them at off-leash dog parks.  It has been a relief to work with someone that truly understands Kalie and Tova and how to change their behavior.  I still have a long way to go with both of them, but I also know that Courtney will be there to help when I need it. –Katy C.
